Benefits of yoga to battle COVID-19 stress

We are going through a difficult phase now. With lots of people losing their jobs and hardly anything to eat, there is also the fear of being affected by the virus. Everyone is stressed out and worried for life. But remember this too shall pass. We will fight over this virus, all we have to do is stay calm and take care of ourselves. Here are a few ways of how yoga benefits in coping with stress.

· Control over breath

Although breathing is an involuntary act and you have to keep breathing to stay alive, you can control the way you breathe. Yoga teaches you different breathing exercises that are of great help to relax and calm your body and mind. Deep breathing is the best way to cope with stressful situations.

· Relax your body

Each yoga session ends with anasana called savasana that helps your body to relax. In the long term, savasana can help you with the tools to deal with stress in daily life.

· Develop a connection between mind and body

Yoga and meditation are said to go develop a connection between mind and body. Whenever you are in a stressful situation with yoga and meditation you can control your mind to clear your thoughts and helps reducing stress.

· An exercise that releases feel-good hormones

Yoga is a form of exercise, not a particular yoga asana can be determined to relieve the stress. Any exercise can help deal with the stress, so you can practice any asana that is best suitable for your body. Yoga as an exercise releases endorphins which are also known as feel-good hormones. So they help you feel good and happy and reduce stress.

· Clearing the mind

Meditation improves the concentration and connection between mind and body. Yoga and meditation can help you clear all your thoughts and reduce stress. Our minds are constantly on a run. There are so many thoughts running in our mind which are also the reason why we stress out. Over thinking can boost the stress level. Focusing on inhalation and exhalation can help clear all the thoughts and just focus on your breath. It’s a great way to relax and calm down.
