Being positive implies choosing to look on the bright side of things. It means you understand that difficulty and sorrow aren’t the only things out there, even if they are the only things you can see right now. Even in the face of tragedy and pain, being positive means that you can always find something positive to focus on. However, this is easier said than done. On a daily level, you must make a conscious decision.

Here are a few ways to feel positive about your life

1. Start on a positive note.

What you do first thing in the morning and how you feel usually sets the tone for the rest of your day. Every day when you wake up, you have a choice. You may either embrace the day or start it off on a positive note, such as a fast workout or a relaxing meditation session—or you can try to avoid getting out of bed at all. You must still get up and go to work or do whatever you are responsible for that day, regardless of how you feel, so might as well do it on a positive note.

2. Eat a balanced diet.

The food you eat on a regular basis has an impact on not only your weight but also how you feel and act. Starting the day with a nutritious meal improves one’s mood and gives them consistent energy throughout the day. This helps to reduce blood sugar decreases, which can cause irritability, anxiety, and weariness.

3. Surround yourself with good people.

Surround yourself with individuals that lift you up rather than drag you down. Take a good look at the folks you spend the most time with. If you have a friend that is always negative, attempt to keep your distance from him or her. If you’re around people who are happy with their lives, they’ll be able to inspire you to feel the same way.

4. Accept yourself.

You are who you are, and you cannot change who you are right now, but you can set the conditions that will shape your future. However, there is little you can do right now except accept it and work to better it. Try to accept your vulnerable or less-than-pretty aspects of yourself in particular; everyone has them.

5. Mindfulness

Stay in the present throughout the day to practise mindfulness and learn to appreciate life more.

You can change the way your thoughts run your life by practicing mindfulness. You can learn to control the thoughts that run through your mind. Make the decision to be positive in each moment to break free from negative thought patterns and increase your gratitude for the present moment.
