When listening to a beautiful romantic song, all you can think about is being with your girlfriend or crush. Happy songs make you move and dance even if you are very lazy. Similarly, while listening to an inspiring song in the gym, we can perform more pull-ups than usual, because the lyrics really hit us. Music can be a strong influence that can alter our thoughts and mind from anything to anything. Most people can’t even pass a day without listening to the radio or a pre-made playlist on the phone.

While listening to a favourite song, a section of our brain called the nucleus accumbens turns on and releases the dopamine, also known as the pleasure chemical. It is the same chemical that makes you want more of that delicious food or other things that give you happiness. Basically, this chemical is the reason we get pleasure and music plays an important role in achieving it. Ever wonder why chirping of birds in the morning or the sound of cool breezes makes us calm and soothing? It doesn’t have to a superstar singer singing for us, music can come to us in many ways.

Your favourite songs are nothing but normal sentences and words spoken in rhythm along with music and drums. If you were told the same sentences separately as a speech it wouldn’t be as much as effective as in a song. Everyone expresses their love for their own country in their own beautiful words. But only national anthems we hear musically make us overwhelmed and full of emotions. Music is beautiful and helps us remain mentally and emotionally stable. But remember not to let it distract you. Avoid listening to music during exams as some songs can get stuck in your mind and disturb you. Also, avoid listening to songs at full volume while using headphones.
