Not being able to sleep at night is one of the major problems people are facing these days and mostly the young generation. There can be many reasons why people are not being able to sleep at night

– Suffering from insomnia

– Uncomfortable bedding

– Continuous racing of thoughts

– Fear of something

– Urge to use gadgets

These few reasons can lead to lack of sleep. Therefore, to help you when you can’t sleep here are a few tips.

· Avoid taking gadgets with you to bed

Make it a habit or a rule to not to take your gadgets in your bed. Gadgets, specially smartphones are the major reason why people can’t sleep. It can be in fact concluded that people don’t want to sleep, instead, keep using the smartphone and wasting their sleep time. So if you want to change this wrong habit of yours start from limiting your time on social media. Let all your friends know that you won’t be available after a particular time unless emergency.

· Try to distract your mind from racing thoughts

Many of us can’t sleep because we can’t control our thoughts that are racing in our head. To control these thoughts people choose to use smartphones and get stuck there. Instead, of using smartphone distract your train of thoughts by a single thought. Start making plans or imagining things around that thought and you’ll soon be asleep as it gets boring. It is the best way to deal with thoughts by purposely thinking about something.

· Read a book or solve a puzzle

If you still can’t sleep, start reading a book or solving a puzzle, until you are sleepy and then get into bed and sleep. Make sure the book you read is not interesting or else you’ll forget about the time and keep reading the book and the purpose won’t be solved.

· Relax your body before going to bed

Often we can’t sleep when we are too tired. We want to sleep but we can’t because of the body stress and suppressed muscles. Therefore to avoid this, before going to sleep try one or two relaxing yoga positions. You can also do some stretching to free your muscles or take a hot water bath. However, taking a bath might refresh you enough to not get sleepy so make sure you don’t take a bath just before going to bed.

· Cut down on caffeine

Caffeine can trick your brain by making it feel less tired and refresh after it’s consumption. Increase in consumption of caffeine can affect your sleep, therefore, restrict the consumption to be able to sleep at night.
