Have you attained the minimum age to operate a two- or four-wheeled vehicle and desire a license? In order to learn to drive safely and without incurring penalties, you must first obtain a learner’s permit. By going to the RTO (Regional Transport Office) and submitting an application, you can obtain a license. The Indian government has also automated and computerized the procedure to make it less complicated and more practical.

Under Section 4 of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, a person who has reached the age of 16 may, with the permission of a parent or guardian, get a driving license to operate a two-wheeler without gear and whose engine capacity does not exceed 50 ccs.

Therefore, you can easily apply online whether you wish to receive a learner’s permit or a permanent license. While the application process for a learner’s permit is entirely digital, in order to obtain a permanent driving permit, you must appear in person at the transport office and pass a driving test.
