· To communicate regularly

Communication is the key. Be it any relationship, communication is very important for a relationship to work smoothly and especially when you are in a long-distance relationship, communication is the only thing that will help your relationship survive. Your conversation game should be strong to make your relationship work. You should be able to communicate your daily activities, your likes and dislikes, your needs etc. All over the phone.

· Be honest with each other

If you want your relationship to work, you need to be very honest with each other. Since you are not together there will be many temptations for both of you. But if you are honest and true to your partner, it will help you overcome those temptations easily.

· Visit each other once in a while

It might cost you some money, but you must visit each other once in a while. You can take turns to do so. But at least every 4-6 months you should see each other and spend time together. Physical touch is very crucial in a relationship. So next time you miss your partner give him a surprise visit.

· Don’t over-communicate give each other space

It often happens that when you are not together, you tend to talk more and stay connected on mobile. It’s a proven fact that people in a normal relationship get more time with self than people in a long-distance relationship, that’s because we try to over-communicate when we are staying far from each other. Don’t do that! You might frustrate your partner with your extra involvement in his/her life.

· Keep track of each other’s schedules

Keep track of each other’s schedule, so you know when is the right time to call your partner and you don’t mess up with their schedule by your call. Also, you must know about the events occurring in their life like business trips, examination, or job interview etc.
