Understanding when to end a relationship is essential. Here are some ominous warning signals that it’s time to move on.
1. When you focus more on the past than the present.
Do you relive the relationship’s best times to boost your self-esteem? Do you use these as justifications to stay with him/her? If this is the case, it indicates that your current relationship isn’t what you want it to be. We are experiencing a self-created reality to a greater extent as we dwell more on our memories of the past and/or a self-constructed future.
2. When you experience more suffering in the relationship than delight.
We occasionally have a tendency to become dazzled by the relationship’s pleasant history. till we stop seeing all the misery it causes us. If you find yourself irritated, agitated, or dissatisfied in your relationship frequently, or if you occasionally find yourself in tears, this person might not be the ideal one for you.
3. When they anticipate that you will alter.
It might be difficult to know when to end a relationship. You must keep in mind, though, that unconditional love is the purest kind. If it isn’t for your well-being, your partner shouldn’t expect you to change (such as quitting smoking or adopting a healthier diet).
4. When you continue, anticipate a change in them.

You are in this relationship for the wrong reasons if you entered it or stayed in it with the expectation that the other person will change. Instead of accepting someone as they are, you are attempting to modify them to meet your expectations.

Cognitive dissonance occurs whenever we encounter a circumstance that makes us uncomfortable. When anything that goes against our beliefs is presented to us, we feel uncomfortable. When this occurs, we try to rationalize the circumstance by coming up with reasons why it happened.
