The man behind this extraordinary company is Sridhar Vembu, who occupies a majority share in Zoho with his siblings. He began the business as AdventNet along with two siblings and three friends. Vembu retains a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Princeton and started his career at Qualcomm.
Zoho’s success is its priority on scalability by centralizing its CX platform horizontally and vertically means that more companies can be personal with their clients. Zoho’s story started more than 20 years ago when there were barely any software product companies in India.
“It was still a very new concept. when launched, the company was named AdventNet Inc. Zoho was a division that became the company’s name in 2010, as it sounded way cool. While tech companies across the world continue to thrive based on the funding it receives, Zoho till date has remained a bootstrapped investment”, says Vembu in one of his interviews.
Technology if utilized well, always has an incredible impact on humankind. That’s where Vembu’s foresightedness brought him back to the roots from where he started. He believes that why only people have to shift to urban areas for chances and opportunities, why can’t opportunities be brought to them where they are. These principles of Vembu have made Zoho more stronger.
Because of all his hard work and intelligence, he is now considered as the 59th richest Indian in the world. He was rewarded, the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in 2021.
