Poha is a delicious and healthy dish made from flat beaten rice that is prepared differently in each home. Batata poha and kanda poha are simple to prepare and can be offered at any time. You can surely make poha in a hurry if you have unexpected visitors. The recipe used is also quite simple.

Here are two ways of making kanda poha and Batata poha recipes for you.

Kanda poha

Ingredient

1. 1/2 cup onions, coarsely diced

2. 2 cups grains of beaten rice (poha)

3. 2 tbsp olive oil

4. A quarter cup of uncooked peanuts

5. A half teaspoon of mustard seeds

6. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

7. Curry leaves (four)

8. 2 teaspoon green chilies, coarsely chopped

9. Asafoetida, a pinch

10. A half teaspoon of turmeric powder

11. Season with salt to taste

Recipe

1. Rinse and wipe down the rice flakes in a strainer in just enough water to make the kanda poha and set behind. In a large non-stick pan, warm the oil, then add the peanuts and cook for 3 mins over moderate flame.

2. Fry the onions, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, asafoetida, and onions for 2 to 3 minutes over moderate temperatures.

3. Throw in the turmeric powder, rice flakes, and salt, and simmer for 3 – 4 minutes over moderate flame, tossing periodically.

4. You can offer the kanda poha whichever way you wish too or with lemon wedges.

Batata poha

Ingredient

1. 1 & 1/2 cup Poha Thick (beaten rice)

2. 2 teaspoons of olive oil

3. 1 tbsp pistachios

4. Mustard seeds (1/2 teaspoon)

5. 1/2 tsp. sesame seeds

6. 2 tiny green chillies, finely diced

7. Curry leaves, 6-7

8. 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder

9. Potatoes, chopped into tiny chunks 1/2 cup

10. Season with salt to taste

11. 1 teaspoon of sugar

12. 1 teaspoon of lemon juice

13. 1 tablespoon coarsely diced cilantro or coriander

Recipe

1. In a medium-sized pan, add the oil. When the pan is heated, add the peanuts and fry until they are gently toasted. Then toss in the sesame and mustard seeds.

2. After that, put in the turmeric powder. Add the green chilies and curry leaves right away and cook for a few minutes.

3. Combine the potatoes and salt in a mixing bowl. Sauté, covered, until the potatoes are tender. When the potatoes are almost done, rinse the poha under cold running water. Immerse them or spray little water on them depending on the type of poha you have. Remove excess water thoroughly and inspect the potatoes; they should be soft to the touch at this point.

4. Combine the strained poha, sugar, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Carefully combine the ingredients. Turn down the heat to low, cover, and allow it to heat through it for 3-4 minutes.

5. Finally, top with chopped cilantro.
