Though the cute furry cats seem to be rebellious at times, they are often scared of multiple things.

The 5 things cats are scared of are as follows:

1. Water

Though cats are very clean animals they are very scared of water. Even if a few drops fall on their body they get freaked out. It is said that their fear for water may have something to do with their wild ancestry. Cats are quite capable of cleaning themselves without using water.

Cats do not like getting wet in water because by getting wet their fur gets wet which is extremely uncomfortable for them and it takes a long time to dry. Although most cats are capable of swimming they choose not to and will be unaccustomed to it.

2. Strong Odour

Even if a cat’s sense of smell is 14 times better than a human’s, they are sensitive to strong smells. Cats do not like strong odors.

These include vinegar, onions, certain alcoholic beverages, citrus fruits, etc. Strong scented sprays and essential oils are also considered toxic for cats.

3. Strangers

Cats are wary of strangers. If someone they are not familiar with walks in, they might get confused and scared. They feel those people can harm them and hence, run away.

Cats are comparatively smaller than humans and therefore, they are fearful of human strangers.

4. Loud noises

Cats have a sharp hearing. Their hearing senses are acute compared to humans hence the sound which is loud for us is unbearable for cats. In the wild, cats are often solitary animals and need to stay alert in case predators approach at a vulnerable moment. They are sensitive to noises in the environment.

The loud noise of firecrackers, horns, loudspeakers, etc. can often scare them. When cats hear a sudden loud noise they get frightened and run away.

5. Balloons

The inflated balloons might seem like a living creature to a cat and it may think that the creature is about to attack them and hence, get scared.

Also, if the cat tries to catch it with its sharp claws, it can burst the balloon and scare the cat away.
