Whether rich or poor, every person tries to bargain when it comes to buying from the street vendors. Even though we have full money to pay to them we still try to bargain and negotiate the price. Meanwhile, when we go to malls and other supermarkets, we do not ask them for a discount or bargain with the prices. The vegetable and fruit vendors are a part of the poor committee who are making their sale in the hot burning sun, while people like us go and bargain with them. We tend to fight for a small amount like ₹10 discount but we don’t realize how much that ₹ 10 might make a difference in their life.

We should understand that they are working so hard to bring fruits and vegetables and make them available for us, no matter which season it is. The probable wakeup at 3:00 a.m. in the morning to collect vegetables from the delivery truck, purchase it from them and then set up the stalls and scream the whole day to make a sale. Whatever they earn by struggling so much is not even enough for them to feed themselves or their families. We all are aware of their struggle and their situation, yet we try to bargain with them until they have nothing to earn from. We make charity elsewhere, but we fail to understand these poor vendors and try to decrease the price of their blood money.

Here below are 4 reasons why we shouldn’t bargain with such vendors and try to not fight for that extra penny-

  • ‌The money they earn is quite negligible – They have to buy Vegetables from the main supplier, they have to travel it a long way and there go a lot of efforts behind it and they get the money for the price of it, if we try to bargain that price they go short on their daily budget and they suffer a great loss.
  • ‌They work hard to provide us with fresh supplies – There follows a lot of hard work in bringing those fresh fruits and vegetables for you every day on time, without sacrificing the quality of it. Without them, we won’t get those days and we would have to go far off in the supermarket to get them. Which won’t be fresh and you’ll have to pay the whole price for it.
  • They can’t afford to lose customer helplessly – They bring a set of items that they have to sell of the day and finish it. Otherwise, the chance is they’ll have to throw away those stale vegetables, and the next day they have to buy fresh ones again. So, for them, customers are really important and they can’t afford to lose any of them
  • They work in the sun, screaming out to the customers – For getting customers the attention they have to carry out some methods like screaming the prices and stay in the sun the whole day for them to notice their fruits and vegetables. So, for such efforts, you shouldn’t bargain for the ₹5 which is easy money for you, and hard for them.

Concluding that you should avoid bargaining with those poor vendors and let them have the price they deserve.
