Narendra Modi, the current prime minister of India, was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat, in September 1950 to a middle-class family. His family worked to make ends meet while operating a modest food store. He helped his father, who had a tea shop close to the neighborhood train station in Vadnagar, while still managing his schoolwork and studies. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) when he was eight years old, and at the age of 17, he left his house to travel to other ashrams Swami Vivekananda founded.

At the age of 21, he formally joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1971. He earned his political science bachelor’s degree from Delhi University before going on to Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for his master’s degree. Narendra Modi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1987 and rose to the position of Gujarat Branch General Secretary. He was chosen to serve as the General Secretary of the BJP’s national organization in 1995. When Gujarat’s Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel resigned owing to health reasons on October 7, 2001, Narendra Modi stepped up, took the oath, and continued in the position for three consecutive terms.

He won both the assembly election from Maninagar, which he won twice and the Rajkot II seat election in 2002. On May 24, 2014, this accomplished orator was chosen as Prime Minister of India. In 2019, he gained re-election.
