Have you been taking more care of yourself physically than mentally? If yes, then you have been doing it all wrong. Your brain is the most important part of your body. It requires equal care and comfort as other body parts. Emotional and mental health is vital because it affects your thoughts, mind and decision-making skills. A depressed mind can make you stop thinking clearly. Further, it interferes with the functioning of the brain. Poor mental health or depression can be a result of some bad experience or failure. You lose appetite and sleep. You become emotionally complex and difficult to be dealt with, which can affect your relationships with others. If your mind is filled with sad and depressing thoughts, even the things that make you happy seem to lose its purpose.

Solutions to try: –

  1. Practising meditation can improve your focus on life and thus bring you more positive thoughts. Meditation is a calm and soothing way to synchronise your physical and emotional self.
  2. The best way to feel free is to share. Sharing your worries and problems don’t always solve them, but it sure makes you lighter and gives you the strength to deal with it. Talk about your feelings to the person you care and feel comfortable with.
  3. You may not always feel like eating as a result of losing appetite due to poor mental health. But more physical illnesses is the last thing you want. Keep your body fit and healthy and your mind will follow.
  4. If you can’t deal with the workload or stress, take a break or share your responsibilities. Don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help. If you think you can’t complete the task, give up and take a break. We are humans after all not machines.
  5. If you feel too depressed and are shy to share it with anyone, approach your parents and ask for professional help. Try therapy. Mental health professionals can help you cope up with anxiety and other mental health issues.

Lastly, don’t corner yourself and feel lonely. Get a pet if you feel lonely. Do not box yourself and keep your emotions hidden inside. Remember your parents and family is always there for you. Talk about your problems to someone at least.
