We have all experienced competition, whether it’s in board games with our families, playground games with our elementary school buddies, or promotions at work as we advance in our careers. Competition can be beneficial to our intellect since it provides challenges and opportunities for problem solving. Being highly competitive, on the other hand, can take away our happiness. Too much competition can leave you feeling constantly stressed out, and this frustration is really harmful.

Being too competitive makes us fear losing. We feel the constant need to always win. This turns us into being aggressively competitive which is extremely unhealthy. You shouldn’t be so engrossed in someone else’s success that animosity builds up inside you and threatens to explode. This can be detrimental to your mental wellbeing.

Because when we lose, we become angry and frustrated. This can manifest itself in numerous ways. It can also lead to self-hatred which can hinder your self-worth. Therefore, it is important in life to know when to accept defeat and learn from it and when to fight your battles courageously.

Being overly competitive can lead to various ego, jealousy problems as well. It can also make one depend heavily on validation from the world which can take away our inner peace and happiness from us.

When we are too competitive we are so focused on winning that we fail to see that failures can be our learning lessons too. Failures can help us grow and help us do better. But instead, we are so consumed with the greed to always win.
