Grief, rage, and despair all have powerful and urgent energy to them. When they arrive, they are brash and obnoxious. It is so powerful that it has the ability to steal our happiness and peace of mind. The only way to go “through” the pain is to go “through” it! It is unavoidable. We can only get through it if we truly accept the anguish we’re going through.

Being in physical or emotional pain is tough, and we often turn to our minds for relief. However, something magical happens when we are able to totally be present with our experience.

Mindfulness is a method of relating to our experiences that allows us to embrace all of them, including the good and the bad. Some individuals shut the door on their pain, while others welcome it in and make it a part of their existence.

Our ability to work with pain thoughtfully is being able to encounter the powerful energy of pain when it strikes and allowing it to pass through us without being hampered by negative emotions.

Emotions come to us to teach us, whether they are uplifting and pleasant or sorrowful and frightening. We find it easier to open the doors to joy and tranquility when we embrace all of life and the teachings it has to offer. And when we fully embrace our pain, we stop blaming others and we grow as an individual.

You will be able to live a peaceful and joyous life if you embrace all that comes your way on this journey of life if you believe that you are not being given anything you cannot endure. Trying to fight pain as a defense strategy can make things worse. As a new way of dealing with pain, learn to accept and embrace it beautifully. When we embrace our suffering, it becomes less painful.
