1. Separating Your Whites
This is the major mistake most the people make they do not keep their whites separate from their colored clothes. Even clothes with light colors can get transferred onto whites, so make sure you make a different basket of only white clothes, wash that first and then wash your other clothes.
2. Using Less Detergent
More detergent does not mean whiter or cleaner clothes. Using more detergent or fabric softener ruins the shirt. They cover the fabrics and attach to the dirt on the clothes like magnets. So use a minimum amount of detergent while cleaning white clothes and make sure to rinse them properly in the end.
3. Using a ‘Bluing’ Agent
They are called as optical brighteners, these agents bring a touch of blue color to yellowed or dingy white clothes. Since yellow and blue cancel each other, they help make white clothes look whiter.
5. Bleaching the Only Cotton
Sometimes Chlorine bleach can damage fabrics and can turn white clothes into grey or yellow. You can use bleach safely on cotton, but avoid it for other fabrics.
4. Use Low Heat
When you are drying your white clothes in a dryer, make sure that you use low heat and take the clothes out while they are still damp.
