Do you have a meeting in 5 minutes? It can be used to clear your physical or email mailbox. If you have a large inbox, you’ll have to work rapidly and may not be able to complete everything; nonetheless, lowering your pile can be beneficial.
Keep a note of phone calls you need to make, complete with phone numbers and have it with you at all times. You can clear a few calls off your list in a short amount of time whether you’re at your desk or on the road.
Do you only have two minutes? Send a quick email to a coworker. Even a simple “touching base” or follow-up email can make a significant difference in your working relationship. Alternatively, ask a quick question and put it on your to-do list for later.
If you have some free time and your email inbox is empty, go to Google Reader and clear out your feed inbox.
Many people fall behind on their finances, either by failing to pay bills (due to a lack of time), or by failing to input transactions in their financial software, empty their chequebook, or examine their budget. Please take a few moments to update these items. It only takes 10 to 15 minutes once in a while.
