According to an expert, the beginning of love and how we pursue it throughout our lives is all dependent on our parents. We are dependent on our parents to fulfil our needs as we are born helpless infants. Gradually, love becomes a need and in adulthood, we seek the same love.
The development of love towards our parents has an attachment theory because children are protected and nurtured by their parents and their emotional nurturing need is satiated. This works in making them learn to love their parents.
As a child, you learn about love from your parents which determines your love for others when you are an adult. If your parents have nurtured you emotionally through love, then you become an adult who has love to share. However, if you are not emotionally nurtured as a kid, then as an adult you tend to seek for love that you missed as a child.
That does not mean that the people who come from non-loving homes are not capable of love. They just need to take some extra effort to get there. According to experts, our brain is customised to support pair bonding. People go into the state of limerence which is often known as infatuation or obsession when they fall in love. This happens because when we experience sincere love our hormones and brains tend to go wild.
Additionally, when we are in the presence of a loved one, our brain produces serotonin, endorphins and dopamine which increases your well being and pleasure.
