With a population of nearly 1.2 billion people, India is a strong competitor for sending students abroad for further education. While India has numerous prominent colleges and universities, such as the IITs and IIMs, many young Indian students today prefer to study in universities outside of the country. Here are a few reasons why the youth of India prefer studying and working abroad.

1) There are more alternatives then there are in traditional courses

Despite the rapid advancement of Indian higher education, universities choose to offer old courses over new ones leaving them with very little choice in choosing their desired course. As a result, they look into study abroad opportunities in order to follow their desired course because their desired course has still not gained much importance in India.

2) More opportunities for advancement

Students who return to India after studying abroad have a better chance of finding work.

3) Admissions accessibility

Because of India’s large population, and top-tier institutions with substantially fewer seats with extremely competitive admissions, it is difficult to get admissions in these institutions. If students have the academic credentials and are financially comfortable, they can now avoid the rat race and follow their dream course by choosing to study abroad.

4) Research opportunities

The research opportunities in nations such as the US and UK are more advanced than those available in Indian universities. One of the major reasons why Indian students go abroad to study. The majority of students complete their research and go on to become professors. Some students return to India to teach or look for work in related fields. They have the advantage of a resume that will impress potential employers.
