Many choose to practice in a specialized area such as property law, immigration law, or tax law, where they might provide legal suggestions to clients.
As an attorney, you practice law in court. Passing the bar exam is a must for an attorney, which provides them the liberty to practice law in a specific jurisdiction. Like lawyers, attorneys are also expected to abide by protocol of ethics and they may practice in both civil and criminal courts.
