Government jobs come with job security and therefore, students often prefer to give government exams. The 5 government examinations students can appear after 12th are as follows

1. National Defence Academy (NDA)

NDA examination is conducted for a post or vacancy in the defense force of India – Army, Navy, or Air Force. There are two parts, the first is the written exams and another is the SSB interview. The Army Wing of the National Defence Academy requires candidates to 10+2 passed whereas the Air Force Naval and Naval Academy of National Defence Academy need candidates passed 10+2 in mathematics and physics.

2. SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL)

This examination is popular among the students who want to pursue a government job as a postal assistant or sorting assistant, data entry operator, court clerk, and lower divisional clerk. It is conducted in 3 levels – objective multiple types, descriptive paper, and skill test or computer proficiency test.

3. SSC Stenographer

The stenographer work in government departments and their role is speech writing, press conference briefings, assisting and helping ministers in public relations, e-tracking of files and documents, and more. This exam is held in two levels – multiple-choice questions and skill testing in stenography.

4. Railway Recruitment Board

The applicants for Railway Recruitment Board are in the thousands as it offers the posts of assistant loco piolet, station master, office assistant, and ticket collector in Indian railways.

This examination involves 3 stages – computer-based tests, skill tests, medical tests, and document verification.

5. SSC Multi Tasking Staff MTS

MTS examination is conducted for recruitment in General Central Service Group C for non-ministerial and non-gazetted posts in government departments and offices. There are 2 papers – 1st paper is online (90 min) and 2nd is offline (30 min). It is conducted only once a year.
