Why Does Smoking Help In Calming Self From Pressure And Why We Should Avoid It

Even though everyone knows that smoking is detrimental to health, why do they turn back to smoking? Well, smoking tends to calm yourself from stress.

The presence of nicotine affects the mood and concentration. When a person smokes, the smoke that he inhales reaches his brain within a few seconds and starts affecting his mood.

After a while, his anger and stress level reduce and his body goes into relaxation mode. It also lowers appetite.

People with stress and mental illness like depression turn to smoking to relax themselves and reduce stress and anxiety. Nicotine stimulates feel good hormones dopamine which invokes positive feelings and hence people with depression often resort to smoking to make themselves feel good when they feel lost.

Smoking is addictive because inhaling nicotine puffs regularly causes some changes in the brain. So, when you try to stop smoking, you experience nicotine withdrawal symptoms due to the decrease in nicotine supply.

In order to reduce stress or overcome depression it is better to find other ways of relaxing yourself than smoking, as it is difficult to overcome the addiction of smoking.

Also, smoking has way too many ill effects on our body. It increases your risk of lung and throat cancer, heart diseases, ulcers and reflux, kidney disorders and other health conditions. There are high chances that your offspring would have some respiratory infections.

Quitting smoking would improve the quality of your life and your life expectancy. It starts repairing the damage caused by smoking on your body.
