5 reasons why baldness is caused

For some, baldness is an accepted part of the aging process, but for others, it is a source of anguish. Millions of men and women suffer from hair loss. Hair loss, or baldness, is the absence of hair. It’s also known as alopecia. Baldness is most evident on the scalp, although it can occur everywhere where hair grows on the body. Here are 5 reasons why baldness occurs.

1) Hereditary

A inherited disease that occurs with aging is the most common cause of hair loss. Androgenic alopecia, often known as male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness, is a disorder that affects both men and women. In men, it manifests as a receding hairline and bald spots, whereas in women, it manifests as thinning hair along with the crown of the head.

2) Hormonal causes

Hormonal changes caused by pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and thyroid disorders are just some of the situations that can result in permanent or temporary hair loss. Alopecia areata, an immune system ailment that produces patchy hair loss, ringworm on the scalp, and trichotillomania, a hair-pulling disorder, are among the medical conditions that cause patchy hair loss.

3) Treatment for cancer

You may lose all (or most) of your hair within a few weeks of commencing chemotherapy or radiation treatment for your head or neck.

4) Hair treatments

Excessive hairstyling or hairstyles that pull your hair tight, can lead to traction alopecia, a kind of hair loss. Hair loss can also be caused by hot-oil hair treatments and permanents. Hair loss could be permanent if scarring develops.

5) Other causes

After physical or mental stress, many people notice a general thinning of their hair several months later. Hair loss of this nature is just transient.
