According to recent data, one out of every four youngsters is subjected to bullying at some point in their lives. Bullying is a problem for people in the job, at home, in the military, in hospitals, and even in nursing homes. Bullies must be dealt with carefully, and the cycle of bullying must be broken.

1. Building coping mechanisms

The longer a bully has control over a victim, the more powerful his grip gets. Bullying frequently begins in a mild form, such as name-calling, teasing, or little physical aggression. The aggressiveness escalates once the bully has tested the waters and determined that the victim would not tell an adult or stand up for his rights.

5. Set boundaries

The trick is to maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor while remaining strong in your boundaries. Allowing the bully to get under your skin is exactly what he wants. Practice your answer so you’ll be ready the next time something unexpected occurs and you’ll be able to react quickly without becoming emotional. Keep it clear and direct, such as “I don’t think your tone is acceptable.”
