“ Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone and the future is not guaranteed.” – Wayne Dyer
Many of us have the habit of grieving about the past and anticipating the future but we forget to enjoy the present. Worrying about the past or future is never really helping you being happy. Happiness can be observed when we forget about the past and live the current moment. Everything you do in present is going to shape your future. Therefore, your actions and decisions should be for your own growth.
Why is it important to live in the present?
· Feeling of contentment
When you start living in the moment, you enjoy every bit of it. You don’t have any thoughts about the past or future. You’ll be more satisfied with your life and being satisfied in your life is the most important and tough to achieve.
· Fewer grudges
When you want to stop living in past, you can only do it when you forgive the ones who hurt you. Hence, you will have fewer grudges, this will help you enjoy your present.
· Lead a stress-free life
Not worrying about the past or imagining the future helps you avoid the stress to a larger extent. Past is gone there’s no point in stressing about the past and future can’t be ensured so worrying about the future will do no help in shaping our future.
· More focused
Living in the present and letting go of past and future thoughts will save you so much energy. Regrets and concerns were always a distraction. Now that you’ve decided to live in the moment you’ll be more focused.
· Happier and grateful
Less worry means more happiness. Enjoying the ‘now’ will bring so much happiness to you you’ll be much happier than before and grateful for all the nice things in life. Living the moment teaches you to respect all the things life has gifted you and to be grateful for them.
· No disappointment
Not anticipating the future means no expectations and when you have no or very fewer expectations there are fewer chances of getting disappointed. Expectations are the main reason behind disappointments. So no anticipations no dissatisfaction.
