Here are some ways to help you stop comparing yourself to others

1 – Keep in mind that social media is a highlight reel of your life.

When you go through your Instagram feed, it’s easy to believe that everyone is on vacation, taking beautiful family photos, or attending spectacular events. The truth is that people use social media to flaunt their prettiest and glitziest. Remember that the vacation you see may have been years in the making, that those family photos may have multiple outtakes and perhaps some bickering, and that the smiles you see at that event may be disguising difficulties you can’t see. Bad images and videos are rarely shared on social media.

2 – Stay away from the activities or situations that provoke you.

Triggers manifest themselves in a variety of physical and emotional ways. They can contain a wide range of emotions, such as rejection, insecurity, and feeling unneeded, to name a few. If specific events cause you to experience your trigger emotions, you should avoid them. Unfollow fitness personalities on Instagram, for example, if looking through their profiles makes you feel insecure about your body. They aren’t helping you at all. Similarly, if you’re lonely after a split and you’re browsing through boxes of your ex’s belongings, toss them out. Rehashing memories can cause you to become triggered and inhibit you from progressing in life. These may appear to be ridiculous, yet we all have triggers.

3 – Motivate yourself by making healthy comparisons.

When utilised correctly, comparison can be just the thing to motivate you to make some great changes in your life. It’s understandable if this seems a little perplexing. Here’s an example of how this can be done. You can use someone as an example if there is someone you respect, not because of their appearance or wealth, but because of a characteristic that you find desirable. This is not to say that you should compare your life to others. Assume you follow someone on social media or through podcasts.
