The 30-year-old artist was performing on stage at his festival in Houston, Texas, when a crowd rush killed nine people and injured over 300 more after audience members rushed the stage at 9:30 p.m. during the rapper’s headline show. The deceased were between the ages of 14 and 27. 25 patients were admitted to the hospital, with the smallest victim being only nine years old. On November 5, 8 people were reported deceased. As per a victim’s family’s lawyer, a ninth victim died on November 10 after being ruled brain-dead. Investigators said some people appeared to have been crushed. The event drew a crowd of around 50,000 people.

A stampede approached the minute when Scott arrived, according to Madeline Eskins, an ICU nursing assistant who was at the event. “Once he got started, everything went south. All 50,000 people rushed towards the front, squeezing everybody together with the little air available” she said.

Legal cases have begun to be made against Scott and the event organisers, with law experts forecasting “huge amounts of money is damage” and a flood of complaints from festival attendees. One 35-year-old Houston man filed a lawsuit on Sunday, alleging that he was stomped at the concert.

At least 34 other participants have filed or plan to file, saying in numerous cases that the organisers’ recklessness contributed to their injuries and, in one case, the death of a loved one.

Visitors to the cemetery lit little candles and brought flowers for days. Some left comments for one victim on a banner, while others left notes hoping for those who died had a merciful death. Some discreetly sobbed as they greeted each other.
