Steven Paul Jobs was a visionary and a pioneer of the twenty-first century. He wasn’t an engineer and didn’t finish college, but he was able to turn around a near-bankrupt Apple into the world’s most valuable brand. He not only changed one industry, but several others as well, including cell phones, computers, and films.

1. Always look for the positive and let the negative go.

Steve Jobs’ life was filled with ups and downs. His original parents gave him up for adoption. Such an occurrence may have easily driven him into despair, yet he opted to focus on the pleasant aspects of life. He adored his adopted father and mother, as well as the things that made him joyful and optimistic.

2. Travel the world and broaden your horizons.

Steve Jobs visited India when he was 19 years old, and he stated in several interviews that his travels helped him broaden his perspective. The trip to a place far away from home broadened his horizons and opened his mind to limitless possibilities.

3. Take calculated risks at all times.

Steve Jobs was a risk-taker, which distinguished him from his peers. Few CEOs would agree to launch a new product that would eat into or reduce sales of the company’s best-selling product. However, Steve Jobs took a gamble by developing and marketing the iPhone at a time when the iPod was the company’s best-selling product.

4. Choose wisely who you associate with.

Steve Jobs was known for hiring and surrounding himself with brilliant people. He hired Steve Wozniak because he felt he could manufacture computers better than Jobs. John Lasseter and Tim Cook were two of Jobs’ most well-known collaborators. These individuals contributed to Steve Jobs’ great success in making Apple the most valuable brand on the planet.

5. Only do what you enjoy.

Steve Jobs remarked this while speaking to Stanford University students and faculty members. The fact that he was doing what he loved was the one thing that kept him going when faced with hurdles and problems. He also advised finding what you enjoy doing in both your business and personal lives.
