Gaur Gopal Das is a former HP engineer and an Indian lifestyle coach. He is a member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He has been molding the life of many through his speeches. They are so incredible that listening to them makes one relate to them in life. One of his speeches is on expectations we have in our life.

He starts his speech by asking a question- Which is the most selfish one-letter word? To which the audience replies “I”. According to him, everything in life revolves around the one word “I”. I stands for expectations. My expectations! “I should be treated like this”, ” I should be loved like this”, “I should be dealt with like this”.

Gaur Gopal Das says, that all we care about is only our expectations and that is rooted in us from our childhood. From our childhood, we have only learned to take. For all our life we just keep on holding and sticking to our expectations.

He says even religion is not spared from expectations, every time we visit religious places is just to ask for something and not to say thank you. He also quoted Former US president John F Kennedy ” Ask not what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for the country.”And so ask not what God can do for you ask what you can do for God. Here he wants us to know that being grateful is very important that can help us stop expecting.

The more we lead the life of “I” the more we will be frustrated because the world doesn’t exist to our expectations. Expecting things is not bad, but they should be realistic. And don’t expect that everyone will fulfilfulfil expectations. Instead, practice gratitude, serve mankind, give respect, give love even if you don’t receive it back.
