Today when people are asked how they are doing in life, they think and answer about their physical and psychological health, completely ignoring the most important part of the body, our brain. The reason we should be helmet while riding a bike is to keep the head safe from any harm in an accident. Sometimes when we meet an accident, we don’t even notice that our brain is hurt. We may be bleeding internally and causing more damage to the brain. This is why we must never treat head injuries lightly.

In a professional cricket match, when a batsman gets hit on the head by a bouncer, it mandatory to conduct a concussion test by the doctor. Even if the batsman is wearing a helmet, his brain may be injured internally. Phillip Hughes, late Australian batsman died of a similar type of injury in 2014 in a live match. He turned his head facing backwards to avoid a facial blow, and the ball, unfortunately, ended up hitting on the backside of his head. It was brought to light that the helmets used by the cricketers then left a blind spot behind the ears on the back of our head. A better and corrected version of helmets were then used in cricket after the incident.

However small or little blow you may have got on your head, do not treat it lightly. Make sure to consult your doctor right away. Your brain controls all your muscles and body parts. Our body sends all the signals to the brain and it reacts accordingly. This is why wearing a helmet is a mandatory rule everyone should follow. Be it cricket or riding a bike. Always protect your head.
